What is Production Kit?
An all-in-one production-management app for film, television and commercial teams — budgets, call sheets, scripts, releases, invoices and crew contacts in one app for iPhone, iPad and Mac.
Is there a free version?
Yes. The Games and Trivia section is free for everyone, with no account required. The production tools are available through a subscription, and every plan starts with a two-week free trial.
What do the subscription tiers include?
Each tier includes everything in the tiers below it.
- Creative Genius — Script Writer and Whiteboard.
- Working Pro — adds Rate Calculator, Payment Tracker, Invoice Generator, Child Labor Laws and Contact List.
- Release Master — adds Release Central and the legal template library.
- The Whole Package — adds Budget Buddy, Production Central, chart of accounts and the call sheet generator.
How do I manage or cancel my subscription?
Subscriptions are managed through your Apple Account, not inside the app. On your device: Settings → tap your name → Subscriptions → Production Kit.
You can also open Settings → View Plans inside the app and tap Manage Subscription. Your free trial converts to a paid subscription unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends.
How do I restore a subscription on a new device?
Open the app, go to Settings → View Plans, and tap Restore Purchases. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple Account you used to subscribe.
Does my data sync across devices?
Yes. Your work syncs across iPhone, iPad and Mac automatically through iCloud, using your device's Apple Account. Make sure iCloud is enabled on each device.
What happens to my files if I downgrade my plan?
You keep read-only access to the files you already created — you can view and export them, but you'll need the appropriate plan to make further edits. Nothing is deleted.
Do I need a Google account?
No. Google Drive is optional. If you connect it, Production Kit can save production files to your own Google Drive; the app only accesses files it creates or that you open with it. iCloud sync doesn't require Google.
Can I share a production with my team?
Yes. Projects, budgets and production reports can be shared with others through iCloud. A production report shared with you can be filled in even without a subscription, so crew can complete a report the producer sent them.
How do I import an existing budget?
In Budget Buddy, choose Import a Budget, then pick your source.
- Showbiz Budgeting — accepts
.mbb,.csv,.xlsxand.pdf. - Hot Budget — accepts
.xlsb,.xlsxand.csv. - Anything else — a
.csvor.xlsxexport imports line by line.
One tip that saves a lot of re-typing: from Showbiz, File → Export → CSV gives the fullest import. The .mbb file works on its own, but it carries category totals rather than individual lines — pair it with a CSV, or with a printed Detail PDF of the actuals, to get the detail rows.
Where are the how-to guides?
Every tool has an illustrated PDF guide built into the app. Open the tool and tap the help button in its header — no download and no connection needed.
Does it work without a signal?
Largely, yes. The rate calculator and the fifty-state child labor reference are fully offline. Syncing, Drive packaging and call-sheet weather need a connection, and will catch up once you have one.
